A letter from June 15th, 2014

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureYou, By the time you get this you'll probably be out of high school and med school and well on your way to making a great life, but I hope you know that I'm happy we are friends at the moment. No matter what happens in the future, I wanted you to know that right now, at this precise moment, I am content. And I hope you are too. When you get this, we probably won't be talking because I get that life changes and people grow apart and things happen. You're going to be the amazing doctor you always wanted to be and I'll hopefully have figured out what I wanted in life. It may seem ridiculous writing this letter to the future but I feel like sometimes it's good to get flashes from the past, maybe it helps put things into perspective or perhaps it helps us to see how far we've come, so I hope this letter does you well and doesn't cause harm. I hope you've gotten to go to Hawaii like you always dreamed of and I hope you made it through med school still standing. I hope you still take pictures in your dreams and I hope you still wake up to check your phone, hoping they're real. I hope that you got to be like that doctor in your favorite movie & go out and help people in Africa. I hope you're still best friends with Jang and Marcella. I hope you call her up and tell her you miss how you use to hang out in high school. I hope you still write. I hope that if we're not talking, you're talking to someone who loves you and someone who deserves you. If they don't deserve you, I hope they work harder to try to deserve you. I hope you know you're loved. If you're engaged, congratulations! If you're married, congratulations! If you're single or in a relationship, congratulations! Congratulations on making it this far. You're going to do great things. In fact, I'm you're you've already done great things. If I'm still alive, know that I'm probably still writing about you. I hope you're well.
