Dear Future Me

Peaceful right?

Dear Carla in the Future, You just finished talking on the phone with Patrick. He was telling you that his mom got you something for Christmas and you were talking about the Chris Rock Never Scared DVD. I know what you're thinking, it's kind of weird getting a letter from yourself. Well, I hesitated writing this letter to you. I guess because I'd be sad to know if you told me right now (in your past) that you're not with Patrick or you don't have your Masters Degree yet or you're not in the Air Force as an officer. Carla, you have so many dreams. Have you accomplished them? Have you published a book? Married? Met Don Cabalquinto again? I just want to remind you of some important words: 1. Never give up on education even if the world turns upside down. 2. Love yourself and all of who you are. 3. Trust a few. 4. Marry because you're in love but don't depend on him for happiness. 5. Take care of your body, monthly breast check, pluck your eyebrows, don't slouch, don't eat juck food, don't drink soda, exercise at least 3 times a week. I hope you're still friends with: Amber, Kelsey, Inday Monica, Andy, Jenni H, Vanessa, Jennifer Lynn, and Katrina. I hope you still have your Harry Potter books, your albums, your journals, your poetry, your recommendation letters, your Far East and JROTC pictures. I hope you're dressing well and speaking with confidence, and not letting anyone get you down. I hope you don't take death too seriously because it's a part of life and I hope that no one has screwed your job over. If they have, don't worry about it... most things you worry about in life, never happen. God is here for you. He would never give you something you couldn't handle. Merry Christmas. Stay up and stay strong. Love, Carla in 2004 December 23, 2004
