Dear FutureMe,
Hey. Happy Birthday!
So, you made it all the way to 50. Can you believe it? It's crazy.
Are you a grandma yet?
Right now, as I'm writing this, Milo is almost 8 months old (he will be tomorrow, April 1, 2007). He's getting SO big and he's really trying hard to start walking. He's not sleeping through the night. I hope he is by the time you read this! hehee
There was a time when I never imagined I'd be a mommy. I thought it wasn't possible, and I was fine with that. Maybe by the time I got to be your age, it would have bothered me, but we'll never know, will we? Everyone (Tara, Kirk, Pat... ) thinks I'm pregnant right now. The test this morning was negative, but that means very little. It would be way too early to know... unless maybe I was pregnant with multiples. hehee Wouldn't THAT be a hoot? Yeah... not so much now. I'd have loved it the first time around... but once we already have one, 2 or more at once would be rough. I don't think I'd like it one bit.
Let's see... what can I tell you about life right now?
Well, we're about to refinance the house. We just had the basement finished, and I'm in the process of painting it. Kirk is coming over this week to help me install the laminate flooring. I can't believe we'll have a playroom down there soon! Wooooohooo! I'm very excited. Phase 2 of the project will be to add two windows and widen the playroom door. Phase 3 is to add a bathroom and finish the other room down there. It will be a pretty cool place when all is said and done. Not that it's bad now... I'm just saying.
I'm still working at Doggie Spa, but only on weekends and holidays. It's hard because I love working there, and I love working with Kirk, but I love being home with Milo and Pat even more. But, I made a commitment to Kirk to stay on until he sells, and I refuse to let him down. Let's just hope he sells soon! I don't want to stay on past the end of this year. I'm ready to just be a mom.
Pat's still working at IBM, but we hope to win the lottery. hehee I wish so much that he could be home with us at least most days. It seems we just don't get enough time together. When I'm home, he's working and when he's home, I'm working. The days he takes off are mostly for my doctor's appointments or when I need to do work on the house (like the flooring, for example). Milo LOVES spending time with his daddy. He's definitely a daddy's boy. I swear if Pat grew *****, Milo would have no need for me. hehee Kidding.
Oh! The pets! They'll be long gone by the time you read this. Lexie is getting older and is a bit grumpy with the other dogs. She's been in fights with Cinder a couple times and both of them required some wound care and antibiotics. The sad thing is, Lexie always comes out worse in those battles. Mr. Widget is as crazy as ever. He's just such a happy guy. Cinder seems to really want to get to know Milo, but we're waiting until Milo is bigger before he really gets to play much with the dogs. Rain is.... *sigh* Rain's medicated. She's on her "last chance" meds and doing ok. I'm not sure how long the meds will help this time, and I really don't know what to do if they stop working like the old ones did.
Coedy is doing great. You'd never know he was 14 years old now. Chance, on the other hand is getting very old. She's mostly deaf and mostly blind, and she forgets to eat. We have started feeding her lots of canned food. We're hoping to get her up to 2 cans/day for a bit. She's well on her way. Squeak is doing fine. She really likes hanging out with Pat and Milo and doesn't pay quite as much attention to me.
Gizmo has made our entire house smell like cat pee. I wish we knew how to fix that.
Curbee is so funny with Milo. She seems to really like him and will play with him. When Milo gets too rough, Curbee either leaves or will swing at him (she never uses her claws).
So... I think that's about it. Milo's in bed and it's feeding time for the beasties. I'm nearly ready for bed too! I have to work in the morning.
