Dear FutureMe,
It’s the last day of Junior year for you (unless there are snow days). Tomorrow is the first day for me.
I’m optimistic for this upcoming year. My goal is to practice rejection therapy to put myself out there. Say yes to everything, apply to everything.
Please tell me you got your schedule fixed. They have us in NO AP classes and some of the ******** courses in the entire school. It makes me mad just thinking about it. Seriously, Spanish? They had a 66% chance of getting the right language, and they failed. Tomorrow I’m gonna storm into that office and set it straight. Maybe I can get there early so I don’t have to attend any of those ****** classes. They will rue the day they put me in Environmental Science.
Anyways, this letter isn’t about that. It’s about you. How are you? Are you still tragically in love with your best friend, or was it never love? Do you know what you’re gonna do with your life?
Oh god. Do you still write in your journal? I filled up all the pages of the Sophomore Year journal, and now I’ve moved onto the inconspicuous one with the flowers etched in it. I chose the flowers because I thought your year would be pleasant. I’m sure it was. You did great.
Ooh, what’re you doing this summer? Did you sign up for CIEE? Or maybe you got a fancy internship? Oh yeah, this is gonna be your summer.
I love you. I really do. You’re wonderfully confused. Could never take life at face value, could you? Self destructive, passive, lazy, predisposed to depression. You think and think, but you never really do anything. You use the word “really” and “like” too much. You’re introspective, dedicated, observant. You’re so dedicated to yourself that I’m certain, without a shadow of a doubt, you’ve conquered all of the aforementioned challenges. You’ve used your laziness to your advantage, your self destructive ways to build yourself back up again, even better than before. You’ve done well. Your mind is an intricate beauty. Take care of it. Take care of yourself. I love you. I really do.
Happy summer break,
Past you
