A letter from May 28, 2024

Dear FutureMe, Hey girl. What's good? I'm sitting in our childhood home in our mom's breakfast nook she loves so much. Drinking day old coffee (our free ones from our bday) and I've been a bit lost today I can't lie. It was our birthday yesterday- turned 26- feel old (I know you'll feel older when you read this), feel unaccomplished and unsure of what I'm doing. Been listening to Pomme all day - we are seeing her next month in LA with Amelia! Should be a lovely concert I really really love her and her music. Also dropping off a suitcase next month when I go because... well.. we are moving to LA! I know you know, but I am terrified. The situation is as perfect as I could hope- cheap rent, good location, a support system out there, etc... but that coupled with my mom and her hatred for LA, film, TS, idk...lots of things I love...I'm nervous to tell her. But **** it. It's my life and I gotta give this a fighting chance. It'll be okay. I'm sure you'll look back at this and be all 'awe she had no idea :) at least I hope. That's how I felt reading the letter I wrote myself on this site when I was in Iceland! I'm currently waiting for Mike Flanagan's response to my script Renaissance Skies. Did he ever get back to you? I should follow up with him soon so that answer is 'yes'. Did anything come of it? If not, don't be discouraged it's okay. It's a long shot, but it's a shot! Do you have a partner? I might really like one. Go have fun, go meet people, date, life is short. Even if its not your thing or w=your priority...just give it a try. I hope we traveled more and did the trips we are sorta planning- Ireland with mom? Morocco again to ride more? India and Singapore and Dubai and Pakistan? I hope we did. I'm- WE are so blessed and lucky to have done and seen and gone as many places as we have. Life has been good to us- whenever you are complaining or frustrated or mad to get older...the alternative isn't good okay? And compared to some of the people we've seen in the places we've been... we are lucky and privileged and don't forget that. Life is kind to us. You'd better have shot Renaissance Skies dammit - or be planning to soon. I know we wanted spring in MN but maybe summer? Besides the blossoms... you'll come up with something. Shoot that. Make it. It means a lot to us and regardless of what Mike says about it- everyone we have sent it to really likes it and praises it. Make it and see what happens girl cmon. Didn't get chosen for the TIFF/Monkeypaw thing? Lol I assume not, but we are still 'in consideration' the site says, and met all the requirements so that's cool! Was a good experience. Get that website up, start blogging about travel, putting up your photography, making more art, making friends, writing more. I am proud of you. Really really proud of you. Right now I'm afraid of where we are and where we are headed, but I know we'll be okay cause you're reading this yeah? And if not, whoever got into my email and sees this- HI!!! I'm alright wherever I am, I had the best run- the run of a lifetime! I was SO LUCKY!! Go read "Epitaph" by Merrit Malloy and go be kind to someone different than you- or alike you - preferably both. Another project I was just on as a producer fell apart at my feet again and it's getting exhausting and discouraging to say the LEAST. But it'll be okay - Mike said it himself - warned me about the industry and having to tough it out and goddammit I'll tough it out. Let's do this and enjoy the ride on this big floating rock!
