Dear FutureMe,
How’s Évi doing? Did she get the green card to travel to Florida with us?
Things aren’t looking very bright for me. If I get out of Hungary with you you and dad and my sister, we will live in poverty, and since I won’t have money for further education, I’ll be forced to either work as a janitor or do some cleaning service, or enlist in the military. If Évi fails to get the green card, I can imagine how distressed she will be.
She’d probably go through the five stages of grief, but she’d only get to the fourth stage, since she’s been working to get the card for more than 20 years at a place she hates.
It feels terrible to think about either options. If she gets the green card, I’ll be throwing away my entire life to live her dream. At the same time, if she doesn’t get the card, she’ll start spiraling again, and I can only see two outcomes of that; divorce or suicide.
By the way, how’s the war going? Did it become ww3 yet? Did we get run over by enemy troops? Did we finally have a revolution against our government and dear Orbán Viki?
Anywho, I hope you’re doing alright. I included a neat little meme to remind you to be happy, and if not, you can always take the easy way out and find a bottle of melatonin or aspirin in the cabinet (if we even have enough money for that by then)
With warm regards,
S.
