Peaceful right?

Hugh: All people posting public letters on this site ask themselves if they’ve followed their resolutions—if they’ve exercised, stuck to their diets, whatever they still hadn’t done when they wrote the letter. Alternately, they incessantly ask questions that can’t possibly be answered. As of April 11th, 2006, my life is pretty good. I’m not organized enough, and I don’t budget my time properly. I probably won’t in 2007 either, but there’s always some hope. As of this instant, I’m putting off a Graph Theory assignment due 16 hours ago, and hoping I can also finish a Database Systems project and still study some for Organic Chemistry. I love Nicky, dearly and desperately. I agonize over the thought that we really won’t work out—I’ve known it from the beginning, and I hope to hell it all goes as well as it might seem to. If it doesn’t, I’d like to remind you how wonderful she was, and how good she was for you. No matter what, it was worth it. I hope (and feel confident) that you loved her as much and that no matter what, you were also good for her. You don’t have to be getting a second degree, you don’t have to be getting a graduate degree. I hope you will, but it’s really a childhood fantasy that only might have real use. If you’re as stressed this morning as I am a year ago, take your mind off it a little and think about how good your life has been, and all of what’s ahead of you. Actually, go ahead and do that anyway. Read a book this week. Kiss someone who deserves it. Call your family: they probably still don’t hear enough from you. Mostly, just relax. It’s going well, no matter how bad it looks. -Hugh
