Dear Norman,
I stumbled upon this site while doing research for an article that I'm writing. Today's date is February 1, 2005, and it's approximately one o'clock in the afternoon. Outside, the sun is already starting its slow journey across the blue-stained sky. I was eating a plate of orange wedges earlier, wishing that you were here because you always eat the other half of the orange when I'm not looking.
We always talk about our future plans, and a part of me (at least at this point in time) is always hesitant to join you in creating a life together because we are so young and so naive about what we want. I'm hoping that by the time you read this - on your 23rd birthday - we are still together, still very much in love with each other, and still committed to being together.
We probably have already been through so much already at this point in time: did I pass Singapore? Are you halfway through your 5-year plan, right on track? Have we gotten to the point when we're not arguing about "physical intimacy" anymore? (Haha.) What about your MBA and La Salle - have we started on that road yet? Do you still love me?
Life is full of little surprises. Good surprises are always wonderful. I hope this is one of them.
I love you very much.
Happy birthday.
Love,
Gabby (age 21)
