Dear FutureMe,
I am writing to you from June 7th 2022. I am 23 years old and days away from moving out of my flat in Bermondsey. Very soon I will be moving in with the person who feels like the love of my life. I have never felt so certain of someone, so confident in love and our future together. I have such a strong feeling that we will be together for many many years, as I have never been in love with someone so kind, generous, gentle, communicative, funny, strong, ambitious, smart and talented. I love him with my whole heart and I hope, I pray, that we are still together and in love when you read this.
How are things between you two? Are you still together? Where do you live now?
How is work going? I am working the last month of my current job, which I thought would be an amazing one but turned out to be pretty awful. I did not realise how sad being in an ill-fitting job could be, especially as I thought for years that this was my dream role. But that's okay, and you are about to start in a different company and job that I think you will love, and in which you will thrive.
How are the family? I love them all dearly and hope that they are happy and healthy. Make sure you are keeping in touch with them and being consistent.
And how are you? Work and love aside, are you happy? Are you doing everything you can to ensure that you are living the best life possible? Have you picked up new hobbies, indulged in your personal interests? I hope that you have not lost yourself in your work and relationship, and that you are taking time for yourself, to do what you love. Make sure to continue running, exercising, reading, baking, crocheting, spending time with friends, eating. You matter too.
On that topic, how has your eating been? I have been battling a mild eating disorder for what feels like my entire life. Sometimes its not so bad, dormant almost, and sometimes, particularly over the past 2 years, it has been quite intense. I hope that you are on the road to recovery and taking care of yourself, and if not, I hope this letter gives you both the reminder and the strength to get the help you need. You have been putting it off for too long and you deserve to be happy and healthy, both in your mind and your body.
I can't wait to find out what happens.
Please take care.
Lots of love from Past You
