Dear future Vish,
I hope your days are brighter and the burdens on your shoulders are lighter. I hope all the bad memories of your past are just that – memories – and nothing more; they don’t haunt you and they definitely don’t hold you back. I hope you have a conviction of steel and a drive that’s even stronger. I hope you wake up every morning, feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, and are grateful for blossoming into the person you are today. Regardless of what happens, I hope you know that 18-year-old you is proud of you. You’ve come a long way and there’s an even longer way to go. So go, foolishly defy your destiny – I’m rooting for you from the cramped, rented, Long Island house you used to call home. And remember: act without expectation; the cynics will be forgotten just as readily as your failures.
I love you, forever & always,
Vish.
P.S.: I'm sending this out the week after I graduated high school. I'm about to start packing up our room to move to Cambridge in a month. I'm thinking about you, always. Take care <3.
