A letter from May 26th, 2021

Dear Future Me, Sorry, that was a little bit cheesy to start a letter to yourself with… but maybe that’s a good thing. If you are reading this I hope you know that you did great and that even if your struggling there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I am currently a Freshman at Ralston Valley high school and even though I am not in the yearbook this year, I made it I sat at home and stared at a screen with my face on it for almost a full year. I processed my grief by myself and decided that there was no point in worrying about things we can’t control. I hope that you still believe this or have found a better way of dealing with choices, decisions, problems, etc. For now, I will be sitting here waiting for years to read this hoping that if you are in a rough place, reading this will help you along or at least let you know that everything will be okay in the end. Okay I know this is very generic for a letter to your future self but I was just wondering, Do you still sing, and does it still carry you through the rough patches in your life? Are you able to finally make a decision and not second guess/doubt yourself? And finally, is it just me or do you still overuse the … to emphasize a pause in your writing. Now that that's over with, no matter where life has taken you and what roads you’ve traveled, I just want to let you know that I am proud of who I have become because I know that song as I stand tall everything will be okay. :) Love, Your Freshman Self
