Dear Future Self,
May 17 2021
How have you been? 2020 has been a really wild year. School has gone by so fast, and everything with COVID-19 has been wild. I don’t think anything will ever be normal again. Anyways beside that, I’ve been really good so far. My depression hasn’t been bad at all. I’m actually starting to love myself and my body. I especially love hair and my eyes. My hair almost touches my bum it’s so long! But besides myself, I have so many good friends and pets! Some of my besties are Savannah G, Haley T, Haley C, Stephen, Natalie E, Mia, Preslie, Shayla, and Logan M. And I can’t forget my pets! I have a rabbit, BonBon, a lab, Dirk, a cat, Princess, and my favorite pet (or my best friend), Bo, my horse. I love all of my pets and my friends. I also do a program outside of school called FFA, where you raise an animal for shows and then it’s final show (Houston or Pasadena) where you sell you animal for its meat. It’s hard to let an animal go, but you have to go in knowing that you’re gonna lose them. I’m rating a goat right now, who’s name is Loki. He is so darn cute!
Besides school, let’s talk about me. I am living in the same house I’ve been in my whole life. Ive switched rooms once, but beds multiple times. My bed I have now is a canopy bed in a beige color. I have a full size mattress and I sleep with many pillows and baby blankets that I call my bees. My room’s theme is gold, gray, and teal. My wall’s color’s are three walls gray and one wall light teal. I have a desk with a vacant fish tank on it, and a dresser with random stuff in the drawers and a fish tank on top with three fish in it right now. My room is my safe place. My house isn’t very big, but it’s not small either. It’s suited for a family of four. I love my neighborhood where my house is. It’s not very far from anything. I like to think that I’m in the middle of everything. My neighborhood is also a very good place to be. Almost everybody knows each other, and everybody is very social, which I love because I’m a very social person as well. Some of my favorite places to go are carrabba’s, which I haven’t gone to in at least two years, outback, target, and just stores in general. I like going out because I don’t go out very often. One of my all time favorite foods is Mac and cheese. I choose Mac and cheese wherever we go.
let’s talk about what I do now. Most of the time I sit in my room, but everyday around 5, I go to the FFA barn to take care of my “project” Loki. I hope to soon participate in steers, then heifers, but I like where I’m at now. Sometimes I take a friend to the barn with me as well. I also like to be with my friends. My friends are what make me happy outside of my room. I like to just go to stores with them and just be there with them and rant about random stuff to them. Most of the time my friends are very understanding. They’re like my second family. I really only have time to hang out on the weekends though with school taking up most of my day, then I have to go to the barn for an hour to take care of Loki. When I am free though, I’m out almost the entire day. One of my favorite activities to do with my friends is going on the boat. I love swimming with them and going to clear lake and going to this island that is kinda far away and isolated. I also love swimming in my grandma, Gigi’s pool. I like just about any activity I can do with my friends, even if it’s just sitting and talking.
I have met a lot of people in my life- good and bad. I have my family who supports me, my friends who cheer me on, and the bad people- I ignore. What’s the point to talk to bad people when you have good people? Anyways, some of my favorite people I’ve ever met are Haley T, Savannah G, Haley C, and many more wonderful friends! Savannah and Haley T were my first ever friends in my very first public school. They have been with me the whole year, and they’ve come to me with their problems, and I come to them with my problems. Next year won’t be the same. Savannah won’t be there because she’s moving to another school, and I’m going to high school, the four most important years of my schooling career. Im very nervous going to high school next year, but I know I won’t be alone.
After college, I have some very high goals I’ve set for my life. I want to go to ANM to be a vet, own a shelter, pet store, and my very own vet clinic. But that’s not all! I want to be the state vet, like ANM, but better. I know it’s gonna be very hard, if not possible! But I am willing to work very, very hard to get there. I believe in myself that I will get to one of my goals. But if I don’t get into ANM, I am willing to go to Sam Houston. And for my job, while I’m in college, I’m planning to work at a restaurant or maybe even retail. I don’t really care where I work as long as it’s paying a good salary that I can pay for food and gas with. I’m really excited for college though not just to see where I get accepted into, but fir the friends, the late night parties, a long lasting, stable relationship and to just live freely.
Sincerely- Emma K. Grayson
