A letter from July 15th, 2020

hi girlie, i scheduled this to send to you on your 18th birthday so here's some things that i am hoping you are or have done or whatever: 1. ok first of all, happy birthday *****. you're finally legal. 2. you better be drunk while reading this otherwise what's the point of being 18. 3. you better be a bad ***** otherwise i'm gonna be really disappointed in you. 4. you better have gone these last 5 years without having tony lopez on your 'for you page' on tiktok because that **** is not ok. 5. you better have had a glow up and are hot now and have a cool boyfriend/girlfriend/partner. also just in case you forgot what 13 year old you wanted to do in the future, here are some reminders: 1. become a writer. 2. get lots of money from being a writer. (maybe not as much as jk rowling but ya know.) (also i hate jkr because she's a terf so we better be keeping that energy.) 3. open a cafe/bookshop for lgbtq+ and poc youth. 4. live a nice life with your husband/wife/partner. 5. maybe adopt a few kids idk about that yet. also pleaseee don't date some racist and homophobic boy from school that says the n word and calls people bent. especially w**ch*n (you know who this is.) i need to know that your standards haven't lowered THAT MUCH. you better have some cool friends too... at least 5 i'd say. i hope you're working hard to get into a good college (you know mom and dad won't stop pushing you to do well.) and uh, that's about it. yeah so those are all the plans i have for the future so i hope you have honoured these future choices or are planning to :) sincerely, you from 2020✨ (a.k.a. 13 year old you) (p.s. i hope you're still in contact with anne and the others)
