Dear FutureMe,
I hope this finds you well. Not just well, but happy. I hope you’re in a place where you’re more proud of yourself. I hope you complete college. I hope you find someone whose made you happy. Maybe it’s Clint, maybe it’s not. You’re about to ‘hopefully’ embark on a journey that will lead to new things you’ve always wanted. If you leave California, I hope you come back. A lot. I hope you get to see and do the things you’ve always talked about doing. Not just locally, but globally too. I hope you’ve made more memories with your mom. I hope she’s still alive. She has to be. You don’t know what you would do if she wasn’t. I hope you take better care of your body and work on your weight. I hope your face brightens up and when you look in the mirror- I hope you see a smile and not dark circles, big pores, thinning hair, and acne scars. I hope you keep standing up for what you believe in and always have God on your side and in your life. I hope Catherine is still around and I hope she is happy too. Her Mom just died and I can’t see how she’s even functioning right now so keep her close and do things for her that she deserves. I hope your family is still close. I hope Gonga is still alive. If she isn’t, I hope that funeral doesn’t cause more family drama than it should. I hope Bob is okay and I hope he has his family too. He needs it. I hope that if you decide to have kids that you do it at the right time. I just want you happy and enjoying life. I do also hope that you continue your sobriety. Even if you have to reset the clock, I hope you choose to keep working on it daily. I wrote this on a whim but there is truth in all of it. I hope that when you receive this that it puts a smile on your face and maybe a tear or too but most importantly I hope these things come true for you and that this letter comes as a surprise. Love yourself. Remember that.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path.” Proverbs 3:6
