A letter from June 28th, 2020

Dear FutureMe, Dear Lucille, Hey this is you from 2020. I'm sure you've probably forgot about writing this after all its been 5 whole years but I hope your okay. Congrats on graduating by the way I'm sure you're scared of what's to come after all the world is a scary place but I believe in you. What college are you going to? What's you major? I hope whatever you've decided to do with your life is your passion and that it brings you so so much happiness. Whats your passion by the way? I definitely don't know it right now. The world isn't a great place right now, we're near the end of a national quarantine or so we hope and 2020 seems to be filled with so many problems and sometimes I wish I just didn't exist. Do you ever wake up and feel like someone inside of a strangers body? Well I feel that everyday and between starving myself and binging constantly I just feel so out of control I just wish time could stop so I could catch up but I know that's not how life works. The thought of growing up terrifies me and I'm so scared of the future. I just hope your not suffering because of all that. Students at mount vernon started a black at mv page to spread awareness to the daily racism that poc face. It was a difficult conversation to have but it was necessary for change. People are protesting for change all over the nation and we are finally getting somewhere! I hope there isn't much racism in 2025 because the world doesn't have room for that. There are so many things wrong in the world but there is so much change going on too! But mom beat cancer almost 9 months ago and her hair is growing back slowly :) Did it come back? I hope not. Grandma cut her hair and it looks a little wierd. Hows Grandma? Is she okay? What about G and Grandad? I have so many questions like did you graduate from mount vernon? What's Lilly doing now? What about the rest of your cousins, how are they? Do you have the same friends you do now? Do you have a boyfriend? (ew) Right now my friends are Caroline, Mary Ellen, Maggie, Julia, Lily, Caroline, and Maddie. Where are they now? Are they okay? Are you still freinds with them? Cali is as energetic as usual and by the time you read this she'll be 6 years old! Caroline will also be 16! Isn't that crazy? My advice to you is to not worry too much about little things and just go for it sometimes! Life is a gift and it's way too short to spend worrying and don't let anxiety get in the way of you living your life. Just don't take life or anything for granted you were blessed with so many things, don't forget that. I just hope you have a great summer and enjoy as much as you can. Go party, meet some new people, do something crazy! and most importantly have fun. You're only 18 once so cherish it. Love, Lucille
