Dear future me,
Right now it is the end of June in 2020, which means that I have just finished my junior year of high school. It is crazy that time has flown by so fast. But you're now reading this in June of 2025 which means that you have probably graduated from your 4 years of college. Wow. Time has flown. There are some things that I am wondering.
Have I applied to medical school and do I still want to become a doctor? In high school, this is basically what I wanted and I was applying to many BSMD programs. Relating to that, which college did I go to. I think my dream ones right now are Northwestern, Georgetown, and Duke, but I'm also cool if I go to Rutgers. I am also wondering if I ever got into a BSMD program because I would really be impressed with myself if I did; those are so hard to get into. I hope that I am doing very well in terms of my career and those goals, and maybe medical school soon! Or if not, now that college is done, I guess the world is wide open.
Have I stayed in touch with my high school friends? The people that I would say that I would maybe stay in touch with throughout college would be Ashley, Carly, Sharanya, Navya?, and Vishnu. These are some of my closest high school friends and people that I do not want to drift from. So hopefully, you are still friends with them now? Some other people that you may remember from high school are Asmitha, Meha, Danial, Dylan, Maneesh, Grace, Anisha, and Shruti. If I stayed in touch with any of these people I want to give myself a round of applause.
Now I guess the romance / relationship part. In high school, I really have not been involved in too much. I had a thing with Sood in the beginning of freshman year which I know my future me still remembers because that is not something I would forget. There was a thing with Rohan in my sophomore year of high school, do you remember him? And right now, I may like this guy named Amol, but I am not sure if we are going to get anywhere. I hope that you maybe had some more interesting relationships in your senior year of high school, but if not, there's so much more time.
Since I'm writing this before I am even in college, I have no idea how college went, but I hope it was everything that you dreamt of, and that you did so much stuff. Some stuff that I really want to do in college that I hope you did: fall in love, go on a vacation to Florida with the girls, learn to shotgun a claw in less than 5 seconds, drink Jungle Juice, party with the best, go to the sports games of your school, pull many all nighters, study abroad, sneak into a secret area at night with your best friends, ditch class, go to a concert, go on many different dates, and just enjoy the frick out of these 4 years. Oh and try to maintain your grades. I just hope that you are happy with the way that you spent these four years.
The world right now in 2020, it's crazy. The social distancing guidelines for COVID are just starting to relax, but you still can't hang with friends because Indian parents are strict. So this summer is going to be a bummer. The pandemic was crazy though, as I am sure that you will always remember. Has a COVID vaccine been found, and are there still any guidelines remaining form 2020? The Black Lives Matter movement has just recently been reignited, something that has been needed for a long time. Have black people now got at least a little bit of justice and have they gotten closer to getting equality compared to white people?
So lastly, I just have a few questions for now. Who is the most important person in your life? Are you still matriculating to medical school? Have you vaped or smoked weed? Are you still trying to maintain a good sense of style? How often do you go back to your parent's house? Is your favorite movie still The Breakfast Club? Are you REALLY good at something now? Do you still not want to live in New York City? And finally, have you found yourself and are you happy?
You would've turned 21, so I hope the night that you turned that age, you went to a bar with your best friends and got completely wasted on tequila shots (my favorite type of alcohol right now).
I'm just 16 right now and I have so much to live, so I hope that when you read this letter, you would have lived just a little bit.
With all love,
Your past self
