A letter from June 19th, 2020

The fireworks should be starting pretty soon, I wonder who you're gonna enjoy them with. (What object pronoun am I supposed to use? You, Me Us??? I think I'll use us, I think that makes the most sense.) So much must've changed in the next 5 years. (WHAT PARTICIPLE AM I SUPPOSED TO USE?? Ummm I'll just write everything as if it already happened. Hopefully, it makes sense. ) We graduated from high school, we got into university, and now we're done our undergrad. So what did we end up taking? I bet it was pretty hard regardless. I still have no idea what to go in, I wonder if you even know what you're gonna do. How's Mom doing? Are you 2 getting along?? I hope she's proud of us. I know for sure I'm proud of you. We've been through so much. It's really amazing that we've made it this far. I know how many times I wanted to give up already... And there must be a bunch of challenges up ahead huh. I know for a fact that you're either in tears right now or laughing your head off. It's funny, writing to your future self, it feels like you've known them your entire life yet you don't know them at all. I wonder if you'll remember writing this. (Yeah I gave up on the "us" pronoun.) Have you met that special someone yet? Tell her that I love her. You know what, show this to her. Hi love, I can't wait to meet you. I love you so so so much already. I know you mean the world to me and that you're very special to me. Even now you fill up my heart and you're all I think about. I wish to be with you right now, I guess I'll have to wait to. I promise to take care of you and love you and never let you go. You must be pretty amazing if I decided to show you this. It means I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I wonder how much time we've already spent together. I better be taking you on dates at least once or twice a week. I have so many ideas as to where I want to take you and how I want to spend my days with you. There's so much I want to show you and talk to you about and learn about you. We better be staying up all night talking about our dreams and our goals and aspirations, what we love and what we dislike, where we want to go and where we've been, we'll share stories and write new ones, reveal our deepest secrets and create new confidentialities, reminiscent and share our individual memories and imagine and go and create new memories with each other. You are what I look forward to every single day. You are what pushes me to work harder and you're what keeps me alive. I truly can't wait to meet you, my special girl. Well, enough of 16-year-old Ali, I'm sure the 21-year-old man beside you has already told you most of this stuff. I'll make sure to take good care of him for you.
