Hello Anya,
As you may or may not remember, I'm writing this to you from 5 years ago, specifically the 19th June 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.
How are you doing? Is everything great? How's life so far, and what college do you apply to? This is a letter from you're 10th-grade self. We've gone through some pretty tough times and I'm glad that you can grow from it. Do you have a boyfriend now? Or are you still single as a pringle and ready to mingle? lmao, trust me, boyfriends aren't priorities, and I hope you understand that because you've grown. Isn't it intriguing and weird at the same time that you've grown so fast? It feels like you were still a teenager just yesterday. Just to remind you, you have been battling anxiety for so long and you won! Because you found YOU!
When you were in high school remember all the tasks that school gave you? and you weren't used to it but still manage to submit them all? This is the moment to remember that you are resilient. You may be unaware of it maybe because you often criticize yourself and blame yourself for doing tacky things sometimes. Speaking of that, isn't this 21st of July 2025? Happy 21st birthday! I know you are very ambitious whenever it comes to someone else's birthday. Remember those days in junior high school? When it's your juniors' birthdays, you would surprise them with bouquets? It was super sweet of you. And I know that sometimes when it's your birthday not much cares, but hey I do! Treat yourself, girl!
I just really do hope the best for you because I look up to the person you are right now. I hope that when you look back to this point in our life that you know it was worth all this fear, anxiety, and uncomfortable phases to get to a place of genuine happiness. I am fighting to get through now as a learning experience and process far behind you. I hope you are a beaming light to others that inspires them to be kind, generous, present, and to exist fully.
As things or people shift and change, I hope you remember that your value is not from being needed by others, or from everything staying the same, remember that changing is natural, it's a part of growing. Let these changes bind you to God who calls you by your name. God whose arms are always open for you anywhere and anytime. Be genuine and kind to yourself! We are in this together. I am so proud of whatever in life you have accomplished! Also, read more books!
Happiest Birthday, Anya! Take care of us.
All love
Yours truly,
Nur Ghanya Khairunnisa Santoso
