Hey me five years from now, and a whole lot older, and about to graduate high school! Or at least I hope you are. If you aren't then you aren't about to embark on a journey I've been dreaming about since forever and accomplishing the things that current me wants to accomplish then. Current me is writing to you from Grade 8, in case you can't even remember when you wrote this to yourself. I wouldn't be mad if you did though, I know how bad your memory is. Anyway, I just found out that I got into AP and am going to my first choice high school, Saint Brother Andre. Not only have I been working hard for this since junior kindergarten UMS private school, but also grade 1 to so far grade 8 SMS, and never forget AAP. Ya, are all the memories of the rough times you had coming back? Except for Spirit of Math, which I'm sure we unfortunately just graduated. So anyways, this September that's where I'm going and I plan to work really hard so that all those other years of hard work weren't for nothing. The only problem is I can't tell the future so I don't know if I really do keep up the hard work. I mean lately I've been getting so tired of it I really am screwing up, you remember what I'm talking about. But just know that if you aren't currently graduating from that exact school, current me is beating you for it; that is the first thing on our accomplishments list. That's right there is an accomplishments list and if you lost it and don't remember it don't worry because current me to the rescue is about to remind you about every single one. So sit your *** down, strap on a pair, and take notes because you're going to need them to remember all this. The next you've got to do is start writing our book if you haven't already. I don't care if it hasn't got the slightest to do with the rough copies I've started right now. I'm sure from your point of view now they all sound really stupid. The thing is you know you're good at writing, Mme Johnson told us herself in case you don't remember. Get as close as you can to finishing it because soon university will take up too much time with classes, homework, and all the partying I know I would never let go of doing. Of course, whether you have started writing or are about to, your third accomplishment comes pretty much at the same time as this one; writing applications and getting into a darn good university. This one is straight forward enough and doesn't need any explanation for it I think. But let me remind you of the acceptable universities. Right at home you've got University of Toronto, but that's all for Canada. We're dreamers here, so of course the only other acceptable ones are Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, Columbia, or Berkeley. And whatever you do, never apply for McGill, I don't care how good people say it is. After your first year at uni, your fourth accomplishment on the list is to go on a road trip around Europe that summer. I hope you haven't forgotten to make a savings account for it from your jobs in high school and first year in uni. Or at least most of that money, if all of it hasn't already been invested in clothes, which is still wise because that's always been a dream too. This accomplishment is also straightforward and you know we've always had an obsession with Europe so this one's just to make us happy. You can take someone with you I guess but until now I've always wanted to do it alone, I hope that doesn't change. Finally, the last accomplishment (duh, duh, duhhh side effect). Graduate university and do something big! I don't know, get our book published, do something that doesn't include becoming known like getting a freaking dog, or two. Anything that celebrates that you're finally starting your life and making your own decisions and doing what you want. Good luck, I hope all that really does happen. God knows we deserve it.
P.S. ever since I heard about the co-op thingy we could do in high school I really wanted to do it. I guess because I always want to try new things and learn the hands-on, active, fun way, instead of just school, you know? It wasn't even on the accomplishments list, it was on the MUST DO list. Did I do it? Was it everything I thought it would be and better?
Handshakes and fist bumps,
your 14 year old self.
