Peaceful right?

Dear Future Generation of Society, Instead of just talking about the pandemic itself, I’d much rather talk the year in whole. 2020 has been a very interesting and pretty messed up year for the teenage world. The year immediately began with the Bomb drop on Iran which erupted many discussions about the possibility of a potential WWIII. In particular, Teenagers began to worry about potential drafts and cancellation of school because of the incoming war. Fortunately nothing occurred but it was the beginning of a pretty impactful year. The next very very impactful event was the very tragic passing of The Black Mamba Kobe Bryant. His ***** impacted the whole country, especially teenagers. Most teenagers were crushed by the news, because most of us grew up idolizing Kobe and following his career as we were growing up. The news impacted teenagers so much that the very next day students from across the nation dressed in purple and yellow colors or with #8 or #24 jerseys to commemorate Kobe’s life. Then the very next month news broke about a potential deadly virus called COVID-19. The world was terrified by the news that in weeks schools, stores, theatres, or any public location shut down across the globe. The group most affected were Teenagers, their education, social life, exercise, and for a good portion their last months in school were taken out from their lives. No student expected the longevity of the shut down, we gladly left school only later to understand the gravity school brings into our lives. Some still prefer it at home, but others like me are tired of home. Adding on to the immense work that we were given at home we had to basically learn whole units by ourselves. But as the school year comes to an end, now we have small little freedoms like the beach, or now barbers because of our compliance with governmental orders. I really look forward to the end of quarantine, I'm just scared that I'll become socially inept to the world. Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t affect our lives any more COVID-19 got thrown aside like a little kid throwing aside their old toy for a new one. This new toy that is currently affecting us now is the impact of George Floyd’s public execution by a white officer. Due to George Floyd’s ***** the entire nation went up in flames and got separated into many factions of opinions on the situation. Some defended the cop, others wanted him dead, others said that he was just a “bad apple” and most cops are good, and others said that “all cops are bad and racist.” The big explosion was when the Minneapolis Police department denied the prosecution of the white cop, along with his partners that watched. This caused the biggest protest that any teenager of our time has seen or probably will ever see in their lives. Teenagers woke up and come to the realization that the people that we’ve been told protect us and the country they serve are actually against us and want to systematically **** off the people they don’t see fit to live on the land they protect. In essence they are paid to apply a form of Social Darwinism to the entire country by the system. Teenagers of all colors voiced their opinions, protested, rioted, and did whatever necessary to get the point across that the people of the nation are on to the police and that we will not stand for anymore injustices to be spread onto our land that was promised to us. The Teenage world through the events that have been going in the past years especially past months have rapidly begun to mature and represent the country that we will change to our liking because clearly the generations before weren’t able to attain the same view on the world as us in such a short time, due to our technological advantages, using said advantage we can voice our opinions from the comfort of our own home. So yeah, the Teenage world has been the most affected during this time but what Teenagers have learned to do is adapt to our new environments and world that we are taking the liberty to change for the better or worse depending on the outcome. So, to the future generation, it is in your best interest to keep changing your nation through your voices because it’ll be yours when you grow up and all the hard work that you put into the nation will be reflected through the news and media, or whatever they have during your time. Thank You for Paying Attention, Diego Rios (just a teenager with an opinion) p.s.
