A letter from June 1st, 2020

Dear FutureMe, Hey kiddo. Right now you’re 16, about a month off from 17 :) it’s 1:24 in the morning and tomorrow you’re headed to the beach. There’s so much going on in the world rn. Riots, hate, looting, sadness, just so much pain and honestly it’s been taking its toll on you. You’re a little extra stressed rn, but that’s life sometimes, ya know? At this point all you can do is lean back and pray. Trusting God is all you have rn. You’ve been stuck in the house w your family for like 3 months because of quarantine. Mostly it hasn’t been to bad, but your mental health is really drained atm which makes sense. Overall, you’re doing pretty good rn and I’m proud of you. You’re about to start your senior year of high school, and you’re terrified. I’m not sure how this year is going to look, but I pray that you still get to go on your mission trip and have all your senior experiences. your junior year was cut short, yes that was helpful for your grades, but it kinda hurt your heart. You never got to say goodbye to half the people you wanted to. But that’s okay, bc things life this happen for a reason. I’m not upset. I hope that you had fun in your senior year, that you kept a healthy balance between grades and life. I hope you made new friends and solidified your most worthy friendships. How are your friends btw? How’s Haley doing? Has she found someone better than Logan yet? How’s Katie doing? Has she learned to love herself and tear down the walls that surround her heart and spirit? How’s jenn doing? Has she learned to love herself and how to better cultivate her relationship with God? How’s your fructose father lol? Is she still with yacoob? Is she happy with her life rn? I hope you’re still in touch with all of them. They’re the only reason you got through this much of high school lol. Did you get to talk to Trevino about life? Did you get to have a real talk w him and Nicole? Or did you chicken out by you felt like they never actually liked you? how are pastors Zachary and Jill? I miss them. How was volleyball your last year. We’re you captain? Did you play all the way around like we’d hoped? How is Carly? You two aren’t close anymore, but did she ever escape her family? Did she go to the college she wanted to, and play volleyball? I pray that she did find a way out Did you get to go to NYU like you so desperately wanted? Or did you end up at liberty bc you didn’t want to ruffle any feathers with your mom? If you went to NYU ( I pray that you did ) what did you study???? Did you go into acting? Or did you become a speech pathologist for children? Honestly I’m so proud of you either way. You deserve to go to your top choice college, and I pray that you had enough courage to talk to your mom abt it. This is a topic that’s really been filling your mind lately, and the more you think, the more you want NYU. Then again, maybe it wasn’t Gods plan for you to be there. Guess we’ll find out You’re not so in love with yourself rn. You’re a little overweight, a little unhappy, a little anxious, and not where you should be with God. But yet, I’m still proud of you. Youre working out semi regularly and trying to eat healthy! Go us!! You better have lost all that baby weight by the time we got to college. Tell me, did you wait? Wait for all the good and right things? Did you wait for the man that God was preparing? Or did you settle again? How do you feel about your choices now? Was it worth it? Did you settle for another jack or jj? Oh my gosh don’t ever settle for a j name again I’m begging you. Have you loved yet? Has someone loved you yet? Have you gotten that dream date? If not, that’s okay bb. Just means that your man is still cooking How’s mom and dad? Rn in June of 2020, they’re not doing so hot. Dads sleeping upstairs and mom is always stressed. Money is super tight, it’s been a rough year? DID MOM GET HER TREVADO? I hope so. She deserves that after everything she’s been through. How’s sissy? Is she married yet? I doubt it. Her commitment issues are out of hand lol, but she deserves someone perfect for her. How’s your walk with God? I pray that it’s so much stronger than it ever was in high school? You’ve messed up so many times, yet God still chose to die for you. He loves you so so much. Please pursue that relationship before you pursue one with anyone else. Do you and skye still talk? How are the cuzzos? Do y’all still have your own language? If you do, text them rn and tell them you love them:) they probably miss you, you probably miss them My dearest, future self, please be kind to yourself. You’re only like 22, and there’s so much to see and experience. You’ve been through so much in your life, but yet here you are. Thriving and doing your best. If no ones told you in a while, I’m so proud of who you’ve become. Remember when we were 13 and thought we’d never even live long enough to graduate high school? Me too. But somehow that little girl has become. A stunning, hardworking, independent, confident, ****, smart, strong, immaculate woman of God. Never stop chasing what you love. Don’t judge the journey before it’s over. You’re still gonna go through a lot of crap in your lifetime, but the worst should be over by now. Hopefully the majority of your heartbreaks have been taken care of at this point. ( currently you’re obsessed with this hot Christian guy you found on tiktok named Garrett @goverboe and sis I PRAY that you at least attempted to make a move on him ) I hope that when you got your diploma from your university, that everyone was proud of you. I hope you showed everyone how strong and smart you are. That you proved to them all that you are capable of anything. Because you are capable of anything. You’re doing great Also this was the year that 1D was rumored to get back together, you even hung the poster back up in your room.
