Dear FutureMe,
Senior year was “meh” at best. Don’t get me wrong, I liked senior year but it didn’t live up to what the media and others put it out to be. Weird that I miss the social interactions from high school even though I’m not one to be social. Hopefully that changes by the time you read this. Funny how I feel the best about myself when I’m lonely. One silver lining that this pandemic gave me and possibly others was more time. I have more time to do the things I want to do such as exercising. No doubt I knew my family and I were close but this pandemic just sealed it shut, we’re closer than ever and that’s just great.
Javier, I mean this in the kindest way possible, but, in five years you better not have had experience with a partner. I’m not saying that you should have one at that point but you should have at least had one. You should have also completed your two years at LBCC. From there it’s all on you, or should I say me. Is this considered breaking the fourth wall… I don’t know. Anyways, I hope you make the right decisions. Maybe you’re a firefighter by then but I don’t know. Hopefully you’re working on buying a proper house for our parents. Obviously it’ll still be in California but it’s what they deserve. I really hope you don’t start drinking or smoking or anything similar to that. But everything is on you to keep our future in the right path.
Now for this last paragraph, you better have your driver’s license… I mean you’ll be an adult by then. Hopefully we’re still with the boys and resolve problems together other than becoming a problem. Well now I have to tell you some advice, well… First of all, take your time. Secondly, be mindful of what you spend, put some in the bank and have some saved up. Remember our ⅓ plan we came up with. Lastly, keep a condom with you, you’re an adult and you’ll be legal. Remember, family first, have clean hygiene and be mindful of your actions. "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."- Albus Dumbeldore
Sincerely your 17 year old self,
Javier Antonio Villanueva Cortez
P.S: Don’t forget about the time capsule...
