Dear FutureMe,
Wow, you made it.
You are seeing this five years from now. Youre probably sitting here thinking, now why the hell am i receiving this? So you are probably sitting there scratching your head, trying to figure it out. And then it comes to you and you remember. “Oh, yeah, Ms. Thomas, my Junior level English teacher made me.
I know, its pretty great, right?
Anyways, i hope you are as successful as you said you were going to be five years ago, or at least maybe you are trying to get there? Success has no timeline, but hopefully you are on the right path by now. Hopefully theres no more drama like in high school, no fights, rumors, toxic people and relationships. Maybe by now there’s some type of break in the system where you can just be you and not have to worry about everyone else around you. Because by golly, people should not have to be the reason you are not successful. Just because grandpa told you you shouldn’t be working right now (and i know you are still pretty salty about it, you’re guilty, i know the face you are making right now) or just because someone else says you can’t do something, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
Im sure you were worried about graduation, you maybe thought there might not be one because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But you are here reading this now, so obviously you made it.
I hope you are the person you said you wanted to be. You probably did some tweaking because everyone changes their mind sometimes, right?
You said you wanted to be going to college for your medical science degree, are you there yet? Are you working in the E.R? Are you training to be a tactical medical officer?
You know, the best advice i have ever recieved was from mom. She always said “leave the unecessary baggage outside of the door. Doing that can help take the weight off of what you are already carrying” and that peice of advice right there, can help you become whatever you want and be who you want be.
You were always the person to have goals, hows that going?
I know you wanted to be out of the house, and to be working hard at your degree and making those big bucks.
Have you gotten there yet?
You have always been one to make goals, and go for it. So the only thing i have to say, is to keep running for it, do it for mom.
Be careful out there, kid.
You have done well.
Im signing out now, peace!
Love,
-past me.
P.s.- do you still love mini corn dogs as much as you did??
