Dear FutureMe,
...well rather Dear future Judah, you're in the prime of your first year of life. It was the year 2020 and I was your favourite person! I have been meaning to write you this letter for over a week now. I got inspired to write to the future you because whiles in quarantine, I realized seeing you grow up and develop my most favourite whiles in lockdown due to the pandemic.
One day I was just sitting and observing you observing me. And I thought to myself "What a beautiful little guy..." Your eyes full of love, energy, bursting vibrance and full of life. Your eyes would quick to water if I didn't acknowledge you for one second.
Your growing limp body jigsawed into my chest when you embrace me. Your little head filled the gap between my shoulder and jaw.
It would always melt my heart when you mirrored my actions such as when I brushed my teeth, combed or pat my hair and or danced.
Dancing! Was your absolute favourite thing at this point! It was arguably your first language. It is also arguable that I thought you the language of dance as it was your main form of communication to me. You would dance if you wanted my attention or wanted me to put you up on my bed or pick you up or anything really where you had my undivided attention. I remembered how you discovered music and learned how music came through my ear pods/headphones/speaker. You would try to put my ear pods in your ear to indicate that you wanted to listen to music to jam out.
Something that I acknowledge every day in lockdown with you was how perfect you are, your smile, showing off your big toddler teeth. You already have your own personality and knows what you want. Your mom even says that you are ridiculous (loud in personality) like I am, which will work out in your favour because if you are anything like me I hope it's my resilience and my ability to recreate myself and strive and dream in any condition.
In fact, I have been praying that God gives you grace, strength, obedience, confidence and courage to embrace all that he made you because you are nothing short of exceptional, don't let anyone tell you anything different.
Some of your favourite things apart from shadowing me around were wondering outside, learning how to operate things like you would have different shapes and sizes of different objects and you would observe their difference, this is how I knew you'd be brilliant. I know that you are a scientist in all the sense of the word.
So you are actually at the stage where your modes of communication are expanding and now you have been throwing tantrums! To which my response is a sharp and serious Non (no in french, I have been talking to you in french almost every day) I try to encourage your exploration, to discover things for yourself (arguably spoiling you) but you are so full of life I would feel bad to have you contained for my own peace of mind. My only restraints were against your ill behaviour like throwing yourself down when you don't have your immediate way. Other than that you were pretty free range in my site.
To conclude this little letter, you were the best thing that happened to me in 2020 (even though I am writing this in the middle of the year, I just know that there are little that can top having you in my life) I was meant to be in London at the moment, pursuing my dreams in fashion, however, due to the constraints of the pandemic, I was unable to embark on my travels. I cant however put a price on seeing you bloom into an amazing human! I am sending you lots of love and light from now into the future you if there is still life on planet earth.
Yours sincerely,
K. Samuel.
