Dear Future me,
Hey, so you’re a senior now. I’m in 6th grade at the moment and looking back you probably want to forget me, but oh well your stuck with me in your past. Did you get into Michigan? Hopefully. What about Michigan Tech? That’s my #2 at the moment. Are you still in band? If not I am extremely disappointed. At the moment I love band, and I hope you didn’t pull a Megan or Katie. Any relationships yet? Honestly, probably not. Writing this, it all seems so far away. But I bet as you read this all it’ll feel like you were just in 6th grade yesterday. Have you gotten a bird? Please tell me you named it Talon. I bet things are empty. It’s so weird picturing the house without Jeff, Megan, and Katie. Katie is about to leave this fall, so that’s going to be weird to adjust to. How different do you look from me right now? Did you loose the baby face? I’ve always wondered how different I’d look in the future. Ah, sports. Diving, hows that going? You might’ve quit and I don’t blame you. My first year was terrifying and stressful, but I loved it for some reason. Probably because we had such a great team. Did you quit basketball? Please tell me you quit basketball. You might love basketball at the moment. Things can change drastically no matter how certain you are about something at the moment. How’s theatre? Did you ever man up and audition for a musical, or did you stick to crew? Did you stage manage once Ryan graduated? I wouldn’t mind if you were stage manager/crew for the musicals and acted in the fall, but I hope you didn’t ditch musical auditions just to regret it deeply later. What mistakes have you made? What were your accomplishments? It’s crazy that someday you’ll be reading this. I think I am going to send one of these to myself every year. Some of these things I’ve asked you about probably seem insignificant to you now, but they mean a whole lot to me right now. Did you break out of your shell and become less shy? I hope so. K-12 only happens once so I hope you made the best out of it. Good luck out there. Knowing me I’ll need it.
