Dear FutureMe,
PLEASE rewatch Hamilton. I want you to rewatch it every 2 years at least. You could make it some sort of tradition. It's so good - it's the American Revolution, but told in hip-hop. It's amazing.
You can watch it here:

You can also just listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIl1OIGzuDg&index=1&list=PL8KQXy_mAmdfKIuWqiFHe-kFo_OKlNaaB
My friend mentioned it to me saying that she hates it, and that they used to have slaves in that period of history. Also, she said that it's racist because they added 1 dark skinned person and expect it to come off as non-racist.
(NOTE: The virginians had slaves, most of the main characters were against it and it was mentioned a few times during the musical. Most of the cast is dark-skinned or otherwise [it's meant to be the story of america back then played by america today], not sure where she got that from.)
My impression of it was not great, but then she sent me a song form it - Your Obedient Servant - and then I was like DAAAAAYUUMMM.
I said nothing but I kept listening to the music, then I found animatics and watched them. In case you're wondering, they're amazing. I was so happy bc I found some amazing music.
I wasn't listening to the songs in order, and I didn't even realise they alone could tell the story (I've never seen a musical, okay?), but listening to the music made me want to watch it. I was like "OH MY GOD" and I looked up where I ~could~ watch it.
I found out that I could watch it in New York.
For $1000 or so.
Hahahaha.. ha.. h a...
Back to animatics.
Anyway, at some point while I was reading the comment section, I saw someone sad about the fact that they would never be able to see it performed.
I was disappointed too, because the original cast wouldn't be able to perform it forever.
I was about to reply 'same', when I saw a link to some site that someone put down.
I was curious, and nervous, and clicked on it. It was some chinese site. I waited for it to load and then saw the Hamilton album cover. I wasn't expecting much - probably just the audio - and then it started. The screen was black, but I could hear the musical faintly.
I was about to exit - because the audio wasn't that great anyway - but then the camera lifted up, slowly, hesitantly. My mouth dropped open when I was greeted face to face with the characters I had seen drawn so much.
Then I spent the next few days watching. Then rewatching.
We went on a road trip for school (minischool) and I listened to the sound track (which I spent ages downloading) on repeat.
I always had the songs stuck in my head, and I learned to rap **** and Ships (which I feel like should be on my resume! It's fast as hell! sIR HE KNOWS WHAT TO DO IN A TRENCH INGENUITIVE AND FLUENT IN FRENCH I MEAN--)
Also, I watched an animatic for "Stay Alive (Reprise)" without finishing the musical.
I was crying from the first line, but then when Hamilton dropped the "i know i know, shh i know i know, shh i know" I just LOST IT. I was full on bawling, trying to stay as quiet as possible, for at least 20 minutes. I kept repeating the part that he said that in my mind and sobbing harder.
Also the part where they sung the numbers in french for the last time and Phillip died in the middle of it. And Eliza's heartbreaking scream, and Alexander's heartbroken face, oh my god-----
Ok I'm tearing up and I need to stop :(
The best songs IMO:
Non-Stop (I was chosen for the constitutional convention~!)
We Know (This song is so underrated. I love the tone of it, the singing, everything.)
The Room Where It Happens (This song is SO GOOD.)
Your Obedient Servant (MMmmMHH it's insane how cute they made this song, considering what it's about)
What'd I Miss (THOMAS JEFFERSON'S COMING HOOOOOOMEEEE~)
Wait For It (Burr gets the best songs omg)
**** and Ships (which I can rap)
You'll Be Back ("Cause when push, comes to shove, I will... **** your friends and family... to remind you of my love <3")
Yorktown (Immigrants - we get the job done!)
Washington On Your Side (another underrated one)
Anyway that's enough rambling :')
Expect to get this again in like 2 years.
Expect to watch it again.
THEN EXPECT TO CRY LIKE A BABY WHEN TWO CERTAIN PEOPLE D I E. **** ME NOW.
Peaceful right?
