Dear Future Jess!
Hey, it's you from 2009, your 18-year-old self! Wow, this is weird, I am writing to myself...
Er, I found this website via twitter and decided that I should send a message because it would freak you out, I bet you're smiling right now!
So, I am in the middle of the best Summer ever! Total freedom feels great, there's so little do and so much time! Hopefully you already know how to cook a variety of Japanese dishes (or any dishes) by now 'cause I'm about to spend a whole lotta money on utensils/books. Also, you better be really good at guitar/piano/singing by now and have written more songs. And you better know how to drive because I am almost broke because of it. And you better know how to knit because it is frustrating the hell outta me. Also you better be good at Japanese by now because this whole exam/results/Uni kufuffle is giving me greys.
Anyway, so how has your first year of uni been? And this past summer? Personally, I hope it has been fantastic, giving you actually got in, of course. If you didn't I hope you've found a house in the city or something by now!
So...Japan, if things are going to plan you should have packed/be on you way or something. I hope you're looking forward to it because you've been looking forward to way before right now! And, remember how hard you've worked to get where you are, (I certainly do) this is your reward.
If you didn't get into Leeds, you should be planning a trip! At the mo I am considering what would happen if I didn't get in, they all involve going to Japan dammit!
Ok, so I'm babbling, I hope you enjoyed this, you probably had a crappy day so I hope this cheered you up. Remember to be happy, friendly and carefree, you're still young, there's a whole life to live still. Oh, but don't slack, work hard 'cause I have big plans for you. Big big plans.
Finally, I've sent another email to another future me so you don't have to bother, just wait for it to come.
Carpe Diem,
18 year old Jess, July 2009.
