Dear FutureMe,
Last week you ordered a set of drum microphones and mixertables to amplifie them into your delta1010 soundcard with your new (secondhand) Pentium4 2.8 Ghz 512 RAM Asrock p4s55fx Plexicase computer .
Right now you're rearranging your loft to get started with decent drumrecordings to be put online and given to the open source community. Your friend Tim helped coding the base of your new webpage to replace www.freakrush.net and I hope by this time you'll get enough material to make a nice website .
Don't forget what you did to get this far already now:
1999: you started living in that industrial space on the 7th floor of the old Ginder-Ale brewery. There was nothing but a big mess , as if there just had been a war. But soon you got electricity and a tube with cold water to wash yourself and your dishes. In wintertime, you slept in the big space where it was only 5°C and you had to keep on your clothes. These were the days when you helped Alex from WhiteWhiteTunes to make his sculptures for the Drum'n'Bass&Sculputures events in Ghent . Also , Tim helped you to get your first computer . Price: 600 euro's , speed : PentiumI 266 Mhz with soundblaster card with MIDI. You bought an official version of cubase 3.5 , upgradeable to 3.7. Audio didn't work and there was no help to find but from a friend , a local amfetamine and benzo medication addict.
2000: Taste some popularity, organising D'n'B parties is like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" ;-) When i feel like dancing ... i get blinded by sound, ... , where's that chick now ? Eva , back in 1997 , she was the one , she's gone , forever .
2001: My spine feels like broken from working but Alex thinks I just don't like the porject anymore. Bye bye Alex. Bye bye WWT.
2002: you started working in cultural centers like "De Beursschouwburg Brussels" and followed a 9 months course about recording techniques and P.A.
2003: You built a control room next to your jam place. The windows in the jam place are closed with sand, the 6 windows together took 1500 kilo's of sand to be made soundproof. Now the place is really very silent.
2004: New (secondhand) computer: Pentium3 256 RAM DMAN2044 (win98 only) soundcard, midisport 2x2 USB. Finally audiorecording is possible. You installed decent electricity at your place , and an internet connection made your life take a different direction. You spent days and nights before that screen , got almost socially handicapped.
2005: internet was too expensive and taking away my concentration, one year out, and install a central heating system , thanks to financial support from my brother Koen.
2006: Now you got a M-audio Delta 1010 soundcard. A step in the good direction : Full WondowsXP/Linux compatibillity
and 8 channels 24bit 96Khz recording quality + spdif I/O
2007: Working in a Linux environment is getting more and more familiar to you , and Ubuntu studio is a great piece of OS distro. You're 30 so got your saved money (saved for a wedding that didn't happen:-) and spent it to a pair of B2031A Truth monitors, a great investment, what a sound! Daddy means you didn't really need them, well , daddy, screw you man! What you really needed was a condom, 'cause you knew it wasn't about true love with my mother anyway. Ok , dear FutureMe, I hope you got over that by the time you get this mail. You've only got one father. There are 2 things you can do : love and hate him , or pretend he is dead and never existed. Or maybe you , FutureMe , have already found other options , but I didn't yet.
Life's a bitch , but I ain't gonna be beaten by a bitch .
Greetings from yourself back in 2007
