A letter from April 2nd, 2020

Dear FutureMe, Bdawggg Happy 25th Birthday!! you're frickin old now lmao. And you thought being 19 was old (which i am right now). I was inspired to do this cause of a youtube video I watched writing a future letter and also the song “ A letter to my younger self” by Ambar Lucid. I’m pretty sleepy/tired all the time cause I’m addicted to my phone and don’t get much sleep. You probably remember quarantining because of the Coronavirus and sneaking out to go surf. Questions for you: (And my predictions right now. It’ll be a test. How many do I get right out of 15! P=prediction) 1. Where do you live?? (location, type of living place) Did you give up on your dream of living in Hawaii? I mean, San Diego isn’t bad too because home is paradise. If you live in LA im gonna slap you because that’s ***. Malibu is alright if you live there I guess. P- San Diego 2. Do you still pay student loans? Is it as hard as people say it is? Also did batto pay them lol P- batto payed them 3.Did you end up going into the teaching route/research? P- yes, and still in school/working small jobs here and there. Dabbling in business, surf industry? 4. Are you still single? Are you still determined to not get married and adopt kids? P- yes? 5. How’s your faith and producing fruit compared to how bad it is rn? P- still hard af. But better than before. 6.How’s America? Crazier? No nuke wars with north korea? No new plague? Big one earthquake hit yet? P- big one hit and we’re all in damage. 7. Still playing/making music? P-yes with new people 8. How are your folks? Don’t take them for granted. Take a time today to say thank you. Call/meet whatever. They won’t last forever. Is Brandon still the same? I’ve always wondered what he’d be like as an adult and if he’ll come to Christ. P- brandon still the same. Folks r good 9. Can you pull an air reverse or alley oop in surfing now? Or get barreled and come out at least? Or ollie while going fast? P- nope. Lol. 10. Have you ever gotten close to dying? P- maybe car accident 11. You miss college at all? P- yeah malibu a lot. But i will visit i think 12. Have you stopped cursing/struggling with lust? P- yes but its hard when a lot of friends do it around me. and with lust no, its a constant battle. ups and downs. 13. Have you met any new close friends/found a community yet? P- not a community but friends 14. How are your blueberry plants doing ? any new plants P- mango tree brah. blueberry still alive. one died? 15. Ever seen a shark yet? P- nah brah Basic info rn 1. I’m 145-148 lbs. You better have not gotten fat and if you do work tf out and stop eating sugar. 2. I love to surf and skate everyday. My favorite spots are (abbreviated for secret) Lil D, 3 pt, panga, county, v point, t tap, swams, d tank, g view, lowers. 3. I like playing and creating music. Folk, reggae, indie, surf/psychedelic rock, 80s, jazz, rap. 4. I follow Jesus although I get distracted a lot 5. Started investing in stocks (how’s zoom avg $120-150 and amazon $1900 and Waste management now? $85-100) Trailer parks boys is funny af My best friends in no order...do u still talk to them? I want you to power strong and know your worth in Jesus. You don’t have to fear what other people think about you and whether or not they will like you. People will persecute you if you have true faith and I hope you experience persecution lol. At the same time, like Shelby said, don’t be too hard on yourself. Take baby steps, not try to leap like you’e been trying to your whole life. The key to keeping in faith is daily prayer, meditation on his word day and night (our song from Psalm 1). getting rid of idols/distractions. I thank God everyday and pray that I’d have the strength to connect him with Him more and be more fruitful, especially 5 years from now. Overall, I have a pretty positive view of the future. I hope you don’t cry too much even though it’s emotional. The reason being is you don’t have to lament over the “good old time”, where you feel all warm and happy. You can still experience that now; the present is a gift and it’s the best time of your life! It’s hard for me to grasp that too. I know I must’ve changed, a lot, or not...And that probably is eye opening. Advice: you don’t always need to try to achieve something BIG and EYE popping. Just make the best of what you have and can reach. That’s how we can please God, by doing everything for Him, acknowledging Him and working for Him. Also don’t idolize comfort and actually put in effort. I hope your prefrontal cortex is matured like ms journey said and you can focus more. Also say hi to ms journey, ms yoon and get food with them, Love you dude. You gotta love yourself more and be okay with your faults, because jesus is and that’s why he died for us. Looking forward to another letter 5 years from now. Best, Your past self Ps. today, I surfed lowers. and procrastinated studying for posc, bio, and spanish. All a test due on friday lol. In my bed the whole day too...cloudy, but sun coming out later. windy (southwest wind) larger swell 3-4 ft. Instagram gives me a headache but im addicted. also my hair is dyed honey blond and black. With glasses i dont really like. not so insecure about my looks anymore compared to high school.
