Dear FutureMe,
Nice to be of your acquaintance! Who am I you say? Why, I am the past you (dun dun DUN!). Yeah, just writing this letter I'm already rolling my eyes.
First of all, I'm surprised you still used this email address and STILL haven't made yourself a new one since Jr. High. Second, I'm surprised you actually opened this and didn't delete it thinking it was spam.
So have you actually learned how to drive like Mom has been bugging you? If not, that's ok. If so, SWEEET. You've done alot more already than the past you expected.
Do you still live in that house on Bellamy? Have you learned to ride a bike? Have you been working on your writing? Remember, you're gonna go somewhere, kid.
Well, I guess to the serious part. Today is May 14th. Your best friend Kinleigh's birthday was yesterday. I really hope you're still friends with her. Kinleigh and Chris are two of the most genuine people I have ever met, and I hope you still know that and think about it time to time. I hope that they are still together, because if they aren't, find them and remind them how much they mean to each other, and how much better their lives were with each other in it.
You're birthday is in a week. Meaning, that if you've done everything according to plan, you should be preparing to move out. During this process, always remember who you are and stay true it. Your family, no matter how screwed up they are, still love you in some way. Your mom has her problems, but all she really wants is to be loved, even though she can seem blind to it at times. Your dad, he's just... missing being free. Aging hasn't done him well, as you've probably seen, and hopefully him and mom have been able to find some way to be civil. Your grandparents are two of the most fantastic people in the world. I know that at times it may be hard to go and see them, but always remind yourself to do it, because in the long run if you don't, you'll deeply regret it.
Another thing I want to tell you, before we wrap up this shindig, is about a boy. Well, it was started with a boy. A year ago, you met a boy named Austin. Whether you're with him or not, always remember that every single person in this world has something to show you and teach you. Even the smallest annoyance is there for a reason. A year ago, you believed that Austin came at just the right time, and back then he showed you to stop dwelling in the past and start looking at the present. He taught you that you're great and beautiful just the way you are. Hopefully you still remember that, and all the other things he and others were put there to show you.
"Dum spiro, spero" - When I breathe, I hope
With Much Love,
The Past You
