Time Capsule/Journal Entry

Dear FutureMe, Hey older me. You might remember all of this but likely not. Five years ago, here's what was going on in your life. You got rid of the worst roommate you've ever had; that fucking cunt, Susan Smith (what a lame name). Unfortunatelly, she skipped out without paying 3 months worth of bills. Sure, she feels you and Spencer (hopefully you're still friends with him) owe her the last months rent but fuck that; she bailed early (you were moving out at the end of August). Money is going to be tight for a couple of months but the cheaper rent at the new apartment will definitelly be better (assuming you ended up living at James & Rosalli's place; too bad Erik Putz won't live with you). You applied for a position with NetCorps for the second time. You really think that you would make it this second time since you have much more experience (Seneca ISA course and uptime work experience). You really feel that this will be a turning point for you; sending you in one direction or the other for your life (volunteer work or corporate life). Hopefully you get placed in an European country or Latin America; India would be cool too. You saw the movie Brick (starring Joseph Gordon Levitt) last night with Spencer which is a noir-style film about a guy tracing the last days of his ex-girlfriend. Pretty cool movie; deserves a second watch. Hopefully, you watched it again. Prior to the movie Spencer and you had a good session of Parkour in the apartment. It's hilarious how much trouble you and he had climbing over the stairway partition wall. At work, uptime received five previously owned (by Intuit) Netra T1's. You are looking forward to breaking the root password to see what's on the machines but there isn't a jumpstart boot machine currently. I'm sure you have had a chance to jumpstart a Solaris install by now, though. What's Solaris up to now? 11, 12, some new versioning? Last weekend you saw the Streets at the Phoenix with Kurt, Drew, Amy, Justin and Lisa. It was a good show but unfortunately, drunk-Justin was in full effect, acting like a complete idiot. He was pissed that Lisa was at the show with us (despite the fact that she bought the tickets for everyone) and it just got worst from there. At one point you elbowed him because he was yelling "Skinner" in your ear. He did not take kindly to this and threw his drink on you. Another highlight of that night was his heart-to-heart with Drew out front of your apartment that involved him crying. However, you think that this has affected your relationship with mutual friends. For the first time this year, Andrew didn't call you when he came to Toronto and Kurt didn't call you to go to breakfast with everyone in the morning. It's a mixed blessing considering you don't have the money for it. I'm sure you found out what the fuck was shortly after I wrote this though. This past Sunday night you read a poem with Spencer at Ditz's first noise film festival (at his and Deaglan's place on Bloor). I hope this was only the first of many because it was pretty enjoyable. Tonight you are travelling with Jason, Midori, Doug and Britton are driving up to Matt and Amanda's in Ottawa for Canada Day (which is tomorrow). Mark, Kate, Nicole, Michelle and Theresa left yesterday because Mark is biking to Ottawa (not sure if he is going to make it) and the girls are pacing him, camping along the way. It'll be good weekend; it'll have swimming, fireworks (meh) and Zaphod's. And you're drinking this year, which you didn't do last year when you were in Ottawa for Canada. Which brings me to some questions: Are you still as lazy? What's your diet like now (vegan, raw, fruitarian, something I don't know about)? Did you take yoga back up (or some other activity)? Do you meditate yet (there's a introductory class next month that you should have taken)? What is your spiritual path geared towards now (still lean towards Buddhism)? Where do you work now? How long did you stay with uptime? Where do you live? Are you romantically involved? Do you still drink? What are you focused on in life now? Well, that's pretty much it. I just wasted over a half hour writing this (decent amount of time theft - thanks for the term, Zehrs). Maybe you have learned to focus on one task by now (probably not). Love, Kasza aka foice.
