What is Manifestation?

Ever tried willing your goals into existence?

Published Mar 9th, 2022

You’ll have heard the term ‘manifestation’ thrown around over the past few years. Whether you read The Secret, Googled ‘the law of attraction’, or the concept of ‘scripting’ has made it into your TikTok algorithm, chances are you’re curious about what the heck manifestation actually is.

We’re going to give you the low down on…

  • What manifestation is

  • How people practice it

  • How you can use your FutureMe letters to do it

Manifestation is the theory that focusing on what we want in life and envisioning how it will make us feel, has the power to make it a reality. It is a combination of clear intention, gratitude, and letting go of limiting beliefs. The force of these three things is a trajectory that creates positive energy and stimulates action. Just as there is power in your words, there is infinite power in your thoughts and the way you choose to think every day.

It is easy to get muddled between the definitions of related concepts that are also becoming more and more mainstream in the wellness and spiritual spaces these days. Terms like practising gratitude, the law of attraction and manifestation can feel like different words for the same type of thing. But the reality is they work hand in hand with each other.

Practising gratitude: actively acknowledging the good things in your life to focus your mind on positive thinking.

Manifestation: the act of consciously using your thoughts and energy to bring your desires to life.

The law of attraction: the belief that positive energy brings positive experiences into your life. As Oprah says “the energy we put out into the world is the energy we get back.”

One of the easiest ways to practice is to write down what you want on a regular basis. Try using the following system to get started. The key is to assume the feeling that you have already received what it is you are manifesting!

Focus on what you want and thank the powers that be for it (yes, as if you have already received it!)

  • Write down how you receiving that want made you feel

  • Repeat this process to regularly to reinforce your focus and your own belief that it will come to fruition

  • Let that focus fuel your steps to making that want a reality!

Write yourself regular FutureMe letters to remind you of your direction and focus. These letters can be helpful if you are ever having a dip in motivation or lose track of what you are working towards. Use the formulae above to write yourself a letter one month in the future. Every time you receive a letter, write another one to continually motivate yourself and put that energy into the world!
