Dear FutureMe,
As a present for a kid's 13th birthday, put together a scrapbook of letters/advice/stories to teenagers from the adults important to them.
For example:
- Mom/Dad writes what was hardest about their teen years
- Gramma writes what she was like at 13.
- Uncle shares advice like taking risks or "people aren't paying as much attention to you as you think"
- Auntie shares what she wishes she knew/did in high school
- Family friend writes letter to 13-year-old self
- Include meaningful poems/quotes like "Oh Me Oh Life" by Walt Whitman, Clemetine Von Radics’ For Teenage Girls With Wild Ambitions and Trembling Hearts, Rudyard Kipling’s If or Maya Angelou’s Phenomenal Woman.
It's meant to be a book of encouragement/insights during the teenage years. A sort of "Welcome to Becoming an Adult", way to mark the beginning of a shift in family dynamics, passing of the baton through the generations type of thing.
