A letter from July 13th, 2016

Dear FutureMe, It's your 40th birthday today. What an adventure it has been. You've been rather down, life hasn't always given you all you expected. I know that there are things that have happened up to this point that have guided you here. I hope that past 10 years have provided just as many ups and downs. Even though I know the downs probably had you angry or in tears, I hope they have led to things you really wanted and are proud of. Right now you are in year 8 of a Paramedic career, which most days is satisfying, but sometimes has had you question your ability to settle down. What did the last 10 years provide? What journey did they take you on? The realization today is that you are now technically "Mid-life" and your goal for kids and marriage are getting dim, you hopefully took advantage of technology, time, friends, family and kept your life full. I wish you peace, I know that I feel too deeply sometimes, and that I need to lighten up. Just enjoy those moments where the laughter comes easily. So... how have the past 10 years been? Where have you ended up? Did you find a new direction? I hope you have learned to love yourself better than I do right now. Have a glass of prosecco for the celebration, and prepare for the next 10!
