A letter from May 23rd, 2016

Dear FutureMe, I do not know the exact place I will be 10 years from now, I can only wish that you took the right path to success. As of now I consider myself to be a fairly smart girl. I know that I have made the best choices for my future as of now and I wish you the knowledge and strength to continue that in the next 10 years. I hope you stay true to yourself and keep my mind as open as you have now. I value these qualities because they make you who you are and being open minded opens endless opportunities in the future. I hope you have changed how you deal with hard situations and learn to take the time to sit down and think elaborately about the situation. I hope you sit back and enjoy these next 10 years day by day and appreciate what they have to offer you. I hope you learn to change the way you feel about letting people into your life, and find someone you can trust and love. I really wish that you finish your education at SMU and get a masters degree after your bachelor's degree. I hope that in 10 years you will be in the starts of starting your own business no matter how small or big it is. This is important to me because I want you to take advantage of every opportunity that your family worked so hard for you to have. I hope you learn to not rely on anybody and are able to take care of your own expenses. This is important to me because I am being given an opportunity to succeed and become the best version of myself and if I do not take advantage of this opportunity it will be a huge waste of a once in a lifetime chance. I envision that you will get many internship opportunities and I hope that you choose the best thing for you that will be the most beneficial for your growth in the business world. I hope that you get to travel the world while still working and doing something that you love, and never dread a day doing it. I hope that you build a life for yourself that you never want to take a vacation from, I hope your life becomes the best vacation. I envision you maybe starting a family in about 10 years but if there is something else more important at the moment that is okay. The main thing should be true happiness within. You should be comfortable with who you are no matter if you have kids at the moment or not. I would like for you to live inside the city and if you do have kids at this time I would envision you spending as much time a day as possible with them. I hope you are in a stable relationship if a child is in the picture. Not being in a relationship at all would be ideal too. Focusing on work is okay. Taking care of yourself is okay. No matter what is going on right now, whether it is good or bad, everything happens for a reason and I know you truly believe that and I hope you believe it now as you open this E-Mail. You went through 4 years of high school and at this time are about to hopefully go through 4 years of college. You have done all the book learning, not it’s time to enjoy your life and learn by experiencing the real world without school. You are at the primetime of your life and don’t let anything hold you back from being able to do anything you want. You can still travel with kids. You can still experience the world while working full time. You can still do everything you currently want to do at 18. Don’t let anything hold you back. I can not repeat that enough. Go to music festivals, buy a nice car, and experience this huge world we live in because time goes by too fast not to.
