Dear Future Me,
It's you, at 17. I hope you're doing well, and hopefully the rest of the family too, you love them so much. :)
I'm writing a letter to you to read later, it's weird. Right now, it's 4:16 am in the morning on summer break your Junior year, and you are (well, were) playing World of Warcraft like the nerd you are, and the nerd I hope you've come to accept.
I hope by this time in a few years, you poor thing, you've figured out what you want to do with yourself in life. You're so confused and sad almost all of the time. You hate thinking about the future. And you know it too.
Unlike most kids at 17, you are dreading the future. You don't want to grow up. You don't want a car. You don't want to drink. You don't want responsibility. You're living in this awful Peter Pan paradox that you never want to leave.
I pray you've left that behind and are moving on to brighter, surer things. And if you haven't...well...perhaps it's time you try something different. When you next read this, you will hopefully be in college. I wish it wasn't so expensive, it's driving you crazy. >__>
You don't really care about boys now. I wonder if that has changed? You plan on holding onto your virginity because the boys in this down are trashy. Have you found the person to give it to yet? You're talking to Zach, but eh, no way. Carmen is your best friend, and your only true friend.
And by the way, don't worry about what other people think. Yeah, they want you to become a doctor, with all your "brilliance", but Trace, do you really want that? Do you know now, what truly makes you happy?
Let go of your fear of failure and push through, you know you can if you try. Please don't be scared.
Your family will always be beside you, all six lovely sisters and mom, know that, even if you are feeling so let down and so lonely you don't want to move on.
You're content, otherwise. You have met no true hardships, and you have the forward-thinking to appreciate that now before some things turn to muck. I hope you are doing as well despite your major setback of being so fickle and unsure.
But do remember, I love you with all my heart. :) NOTHING should ever change that.
Dearest future,
The Former You, aged 17.
"Fortune befalls the brave."
P.S. Xena RULES! :D
