Dear FutureMe,
Ten years isn't really that long of a time, is it? From the moment you wrote this until the moment you first started reading this, think about how far you have come. You are currently the 17 year old boy sitting in his messy bedroom who just woke up at 11am with his dog (Rosie the corgi!) at his feet. It is the summer before your senior year of high school and you have a good amount of anxiety but you really know that everything will turn out alright.
Oh look! Gigi (the black cat) just jumped up onto my lap. She's laying on your funky IKEA duvet and surprisingly Rosie hasn't noticed yet.
Your iPhone 5c is sitting within reach and you are waiting, waiting, WAITING, for Jack to snap (snapchat! remember that old little app?) you back. Who's Jack you may ask? The guy I met at boys camp back in June. The first guy I've ever had feelings for. Yeah, that guy. The guy I drove all the way to Milwaukee to hang out with, but I ended up throwing up in the mall bathroom because I don't have a grip on my life. I just find it humbling, and hopefully you will find it even a little hilarious, that this happened.
He gives me hope, though. That there are other down to Earth guys just as lost and confused about being *** as I am. And maybe by this point in your life you are married or have a boyfriend or something like that because wow that would be really awesome and I hope you are happy and are enjoying every second of it.
It looks like it's about to rain outside. I don't know where I am headed next but I keep writing letters to myself searching for a little clarity.
So wow. The year is 2025 for you and you're 27 years old. You've probably graduated with an American Studies degree from some university and have landed a job interning at a museum or research institution or something of that matter. I think by this point in your life, you've been to London or maybe even Europe too. Perhaps you've been scuba diving or have had a threesome. Who knows I'm just throwing predictions out there for you. :P
Did you ever meet Christa? The girl from California? The one who you call and talk about life and get grounded from time to time? What about Lydia? Oh gosh.
I work at the movie theater right now. The movies we have are The Man from Uncle, Fantasic 4, and Vacation. What did Abby end up doing with her life? I hope it's ******* fantastic. Same for Sadie.
I guess I don't really know why I'm writing all of this but I just hope that life is treating you well. Never settle for anything that doesn't treat you right. Hopefully you've seen the world and have found yourself and are satisfied with the hot confident skilled man you have become. (did ur awkward teenage years ever end? lozlzozl)
anyway, give Sierra a call and say hello. idk she's important.
take care, know that you are so ******* loved, Jacob. Now go outside and do something incredible. I believe in you.
Love,
youuuuu
