Dear FutureMe,
I hope this finds you nice and well-rested, but knowing how Christmas usually is, I understand that it may not be. Well, at least you'll be seeing a part of yourself that you usually don't otherwise see. I hope you are still using the same email, eleven years from now, because this will be quite embarrassing if you didn't. Nevertheless, I think that you'll find it nice to have a window back in time.
I know that you will have found a way to be successful. You're probably reading this at our Uncle's place, helping him make his turkey and roast, just as you did all these years ago. You probably have a really nice girl (wife?) with you, and maybe your own family, as well.
Did you get to live your dream of seeing the world yet? You know that you've always been fascinated by the world around you, and that you've always wanted to see it all in person. Look inside of you, and you'll see that burning passion to always want to know more, to see what you haven't seen yet. You've always been a risk-taker, too, wanting to make the most out of what you have. You've always tried to be the best in everything, but there's always someone who seems to be better.
It's that one girl, you know the one I'm talking about, right? The one that makes your entire facade drop, and makes you smile every time she talks? Is it the one that laughs at all your lame jokes? I hope you've found a way to make it work, to make that last can of coke you decided to give up that one night worth it.
You've always like helping others, too. You've gone out of your way to help others grow, putting them even before yourself. I hope you still keep in contact with you, and that they give you the thanks for helping them all this time. I know, because I was one of those people, and I'm thanking you now. That's all you ever wanted, right? Recognition, a sincere thanks for what you have done to help us become more like you.
That's what I wanted to tell you. Thank you for making me into the person that you are as you read this. There are many more opportunities out there, and you should make the best of all of them. Go on, have fun, and do it so I can do it.
Cheers,
Past You.
