Dear FutureMe,
Happy 28th birthday. I hope this letter finds you all cleaned up and pretty. What can you be happy about today, after 28 years of pursuing happiness?
Are you still going to your therapy sessions with Dr. Tania? If you are, it's almost been a year now. You have come such a long way. I am very, very proud of you. You sure left behind that dependent, whining, inconvenient little girl you were the first time you sat on her easy chair. You are so brave and wise... you are resilient. You came through every crisis growing up required you to. You are just brilliant. Never give up on yourself.
How's work? I'll bet those kids are still driving you crazy. But remember: keeping parents happy and keeping your students highly motivated and committed to learning are the key to success. Don't lose your perspective just because you're being crushed by the daily grind. Remember that you have always worked very hard, even when you've had other things than work to work on. I wonder what you are working on now.
Some things you could work on, if you're not busy enough, are:
*growing up (still so much of it to do!)
*making and keeping good friends
*working the steps with your support group (have you done step number 9 yet?)
*losing weight
*planning your financial future
I'd be so happy if you were working on these things now. But don't worry if you aren't. Take your time, and just remember to be good to yourself.
I wish you a peaceful mind and a contented heart today. You're the only one who can provide this for us.
I love you and always will.
