Dear FutureMe,
I feel so very complete right now.
I had mentioned to Arianna that I wanted to get back into dancing because I used to dance as a kid. She said that she could tell because dance seemed to come easily to me when we were doing the Katseye x Gap choreography. The dancer in me hadn’t been acknowledged since Reno. Once, another version of me in another place that felt like another world was a dancer. But I thought I lost her, and more importantly the ability for my body to live up to that title. But she could tell by my movements, she could tell I used to dance before I ever told her.
I put on my note for people to list 4 things that remind them of me and Abigail had listed both art and writing. Writing I could understand but art? I’m horrible at drawing. I never considered the things I make to be art, but she does. She believes that I’m an artist. Once, another version of me, in another house, with a multitude of ****** up drawings in front of me cried because I couldn’t draw for ****. That was the day I decided that art wasn’t for me. But it still found its way to be a description of who I am.
It feels like Im like rediscovering all of these adjectives that I thought that I had either lost the right to or never had the right to go by them in the first place. i USED to be a dancer, and I never thought I’d be an artist at all. The only title I gave myself the grace to wear was a “reader”. My whole existence summed up into a word that I did love, but I also loved the idea of being a dancer, or an artist, or a writer, or maybe even a singer. By September I’ll be all of them. I promise myself that I’ll become all of them.
Please keep your promise, future me
