A letter from Apr 30, 2026

Time Travelled — 6 months

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Hey man. So this is us from 2026, we're about 19 years old pushing 20. Currently, I'm in my first year of university, about to enter my third term. I don't know if I can be as warm and optimistic as the last letter from when we were 14. I've matured and maybe grown to be a bit jaded. Life is insane right now, and I'm sure you know. Dad has cancer, sister had a seizure, older cousin sent to a psych ward, bsf moved to a whole other country. Life is chaotic, and takes no breaks. Ok, time for the positive bit. I'm proud of how far we've made it in life. I'm proud that we did manage to live long enough to read that letter from 2021. I keep my personal passions and ambitions for the future alive, regardless of how beaten I feel. I'm worried that I type like an edgy 14 yr old LMAO IM SO SORRY. It's hard to stay positive in this point in time. My hopes for you are: we have graduated, we have a stable job, we have our own place, and we have friends to hang out with. Maybe we find love? I dunno. I mean we had our first crush in the past 5 yrs since we sent that first letter, so I suppose anything can happen these days. You going to therapy now? If not you should get on that like ASAP LOL. It'll be like 2031 when this sends, I think? That's insane. Is the world still there? Dude holy **** I am so sorry this feels so much more negative than the last letter. Like, Ik I keep saying that I feel like I've pointed it out at least thrice now (I'm not checking just to count :P). But uhhh ok. Ok. I just wanna let you know, whatever happens, whatever you do, even if you end up dead or a bum, I'm proud of you. I'm proud that we've made it however far. Life is hard, life has been hard, and I'm sure its the same for you if not worse. You're a grown *** adult now, you're just doing what you can in a world that leaves you wondering what to do next. That's better than giving up. Unless you did give up? In that case man ****** YOU I worked so hard on this savefile. I hope you got closure, or you get it some day. I hope all the lose ends you feel like you had or may have will get resolved. I hope that wherever you are now, you feel warmth in your chest. Even if your day is ******, idk uhh a literal pigeon ***** on you, when you finally come back to your bedroom and shut the door behind you, your chest blooms with warmth and contentment regardless. I hope you aren't lonely. if you are, I hope you don't feel lonely just being by yourself. Also, if you somehow find love or– shock of all shocks– get married? First of all, huh? Second of all, how? Third of all, at the age of 25? What are you? Devout Christian? I hope you at least have found love in your job or the money it brings. Do you do what they do in those romcoms we like? Yanno, come home after a long day of work and test out a new recipe we found online, go out to bars with a good group of friends on the weekend, ambitious and young but still humble and grounded? I hope so. You know we never were one for grandeur (except for us <8 yrs old, it was very different time for us). I know what you're thinking, you'd want to hug us too. Go ahead. I'm cringing at myself for reprising it, but I think you also know that I kind of need it right now. You're my big sister, in a sense. I hope everything is ok. I hope we're ok. I hope we become someone we like. Believe me girl, I'm struggling to feel that way right now. Anyway, this is HELLAAAAA long, but please consider the point in time that this is being written in. You can make fun of me though, I think that's warranted. Ok, that's all I had to say. I love you. We love you. Every bone in your body, every blood vessel, every skin cell, every hair strand. We love you. Find your peace. Find love. Take care of yourself.
