Dear FutureMe,
Yesterday,27.03.26, baby daddy sent you a very dark message that left you questioning your dignity as a woman. It hurt, it demoralized you, and for a moment, it shook how you see yourself.
But in that same moment, you also saw it for what it was — an exit point. A clear sign to walk away and not look back.
You were left wondering how a man you once loved, shared a child with, and sacrificed your time and effort for could reduce your value like that. That confusion is valid. That pain is real.
But let this be your reminder:
You are strong.
Your value is not defined by someone’s anger, disappointment, or inability to see you clearly. You gave, you tried, you showed up — and that matters. Walking away is not failure, it is strength.
Even as you step away — from the relationship and the work — trust that new paths will open for you. What feels like loss right now is also space being created for something better, healthier, and more aligned with who you are becoming.
God, I pray that You guide me in matters of my heart. Be my anchor and my covering. Take away the hurt I am feeling and help me redirect my energy into growth, peace, and purpose.
Let this be the season I rebuild — stronger, wiser, and more grounded.
P.S.
Below is his message, exactly as it was, so I never forget why I chose myself:
"Ave done the math of what I handed over to you/onyi as my investment in you. It doesn't include inveters etc which would drive it much higher.
It represents what you have taken for granted. And by effort or lack of it misdirection or otherwise not utilised, and the little that was trickling in ended.
I understand you feel a great desire to be independent of 'your man' allow me to use the phrase u apply without discretion in our circles...
Also I put it within these private circles that other homes carried you during your pregnancy. And at some point the charger income was paying for you. I sense continued entitlement and disgruntlement on income strain with zero ownership despite the heavy investment in the areas you committed to own on behalf of me/family.
I don't believe its my responsibility to teach a woman to have boundaries, discretion, and to build her home first and foremost.
To teach a woman to prevent access to her thoughts, plans, body and desires from other people other than her man. the fact that you continue to entertain, encourage, fantasize, discuss even with your colleagues those other ideas is sickening.
I trust you will conduct your handover effectively and
1. Remain available foe areas of handover that will not have been done.
2. Return the trust by allowing us to pay you what we owe during these months of deterioration, from the income that will come when we eventually deploy and earn from the above assets.
If thats not too much to ask.
P.s. am not bitter, sincerely. Am just feeling the continuous tug of war we've always had I think due to u wishing to avoid being like your mum (dependency wise), will never leave us and from the past 12 months its clear underlying resentment will cloud your sense of purpose and achievements within what I provide."
This is not a reflection of my worth.
This is my reminder to move forward, not backward.
And I will rise — for myself and for my son, Onyi.
You’ve got this.
