Dear FutureMe, in 6 months time you will have had the post divorce glow up that you keep reading about.
The difference is though that you made it happen.
You have actively chosen to stop drinking and you have more time and energy for life including reading and exercise. You have a new set of friends who spur you on at the gym and you have serious ****. At 54 you’re considered a MILF and if you want to, could attract some male attention.
But you don’t.
You are focused on having a solid, loving relationship with yourself.
Your confidence blooms, your friendships are stronger. His criticisms are now something you can laugh about because you finally see that it’s all about his insecurities and they sound absurd.
You are in a good space. You are enjoying your job, making time and space to prioritise your health and fitness and have found new creative hobbies that bring you joy.
You’ve started writing again and have submitted a few pieces for publication. They get published. You write about mummy wine culture and the impact it has on society and women. You consider doing a TED talk. You have also done some voice over training for radio ads. Even if it doesn’t come off, you’re proud of who you are and what you’ve overcome.
You’ve sold the family home. That was hard and emotionally traumatic but you are so relieved it’s finally over.
You’ve found a lovely place to call home that has ample space, is light, with a small garden and you want to invite people over for meals and to relax.
You are able to enjoy an occasional glass of wine but are cautious about doing so. You know from your family history it’s a slippery slope…one becomes three…three becomes a bottle and then it’s game on.
In six months you will marvel at how far you’ve come and are proud of who you are. I’m so proud that you chose you. You are a wonderful, kind, funny and intelligent person. Always remember that and live your life according to your values xx
