A letter from the past | Dear Future Me

Dear FutureMe, I’m checking in from six months ago. Right now, I’m right in the middle of my career transition. I’m learning that being a leader is less about "managing" and more about empowering my team to find their own creative voice. I’m currently guided by the belief that patience and inclusivity are the most important tools in my kit. I think I’m getting pretty good at strategic planning, but I’m still working on not taking every setback personally. My goals for you: I hope you’ve finally made art a central "language" in our curriculum. I’d love to know that you’re feeling more decisive and less worried about "looking perfect." Have you stopped micromanaging the small stuff? Advocating for child-centered, process-focused learning? Finally have you started trusting your gut more when it comes to big decisions? A bit of advice: Remember that "change takes time." Don't be too hard on yourself if things aren't exactly where you planned yet. Progress is rarely a straight line. My questions for you: Are you still making time for your own creativity? Have you found a way to balance the "paperwork" with the "people work"?
