A letter from Jan 30, 2026

Dear FutureMe, One year after my project is over, I would like to be remembered as a reliable, warm, and committed person who genuinely cared about the people and the purpose of the project. I hope my fellow volunteers would remember me as someone who was cooperative, supportive, and easy to work with—someone who listened, shared ideas openly, and contributed positively to team spirit. I would like them to see me as a person they could trust and rely on in both challenging and joyful moments. For the children and young people, I wish to be remembered as a safe and encouraging presence—someone who believed in them, motivated them to express themselves, and made learning and activities enjoyable. I hope they remember feeling seen, valued, and confident when they were around me. I would like families and elderly participants to remember me as a respectful, patient, and attentive person who treated them with dignity and kindness. I hope they felt comfortable, understood, and appreciated through our interactions. For the Hosting Organisation, I would like to be remembered as a responsible and proactive volunteer who took initiative, respected the organisation’s values, and contributed meaningfully to its goals. I hope my work left a positive impact and that I am remembered as someone who truly added value to the project and the community. Overall, I would like to be remembered not only for what I did, but for how I made people feel—supported, respected, and inspired. To be remembered in that way one year after the project, I would need to be intentional, consistent, and reflective in how I act and interact every day. With my fellow volunteers, I would need to be open-minded, respectful, and cooperative. This means actively listening to different perspectives, communicating clearly, sharing responsibilities fairly, and offering support when challenges arise. By being reliable, honest, and solution-oriented, I can help create a positive team environment built on trust and mutual respect. When working with children and young people, I would need to be patient, encouraging, and emotionally present. I should approach them with empathy, adapt activities to their needs, and create safe spaces where they feel comfortable expressing themselves. By being consistent, fair, and enthusiastic, I can help them feel motivated, confident, and valued. In my interactions with families and elderly participants, I would need to show genuine respect, kindness, and sensitivity. This involves being a good listener, respecting cultural and personal boundaries, and giving time and attention without rushing. Acting with patience and understanding would help build meaningful, respectful relationships. For the Hosting Organisation, I would need to act responsibly and professionally. This includes respecting rules and values, being punctual, taking initiative when appropriate, and being open to feedback. I should aim to understand the organisation’s mission deeply and align my actions with its goals, contributing consistently and with a strong sense of responsibility. Overall, to achieve the impact I hope for, I would need to act with empathy, integrity, and commitment in every interaction.
