Dear FutureMe,
Six months ago, you were bored one day at work and, on a whim, signed up for this future-self letter-writing service. Today is Day One. Have you been keeping up with it?
By now, your job will no longer exist. Boss will have retired. It'll be summertime-- did you go on unemployment, as planned? Are you on the hunt for a new job? Please remember today: a day like hundreds, thousands of others-- bored at work. Taking it for granted. Now, Future Me, this job that paid my bills for 12.5 years will be over. Truly an ending of an era. It's okay to be grieving this loss. Loss of a job is still a valid loss, and one that comes with layered emotions. Today, Boss is annoying you. But, Future Me, you will no longer have this job to complain about. Make the most of whatever comes next in life career-wise.
Right now, G and I are house hunting. Yesterday I sold my house. I can't imagine living with him in his rental. I wonder if we'll have found a new home by the time you're reading this. Well, have you found one yet?
So many huge new beginnings and endings, all at once. New marriage, house sold, became a stepmom, new house, new town, new job. Remember to take it one crisis at a time. Remember to BREATHE. Remember that whatever "this" is, it too shall pass.
Sincerely,
Past Me
