Subject: A Letter to Your Future Self, Herbert
To: Herbert Matumba
From: Herbert Matumba
Delivery Date: January 12, 2027
Dear Future Herbert,
As I write this, I’m thinking about you—where you are, what you’re doing, and who you’ve become. I hope you read this with a sense of pride and peace, remembering the person you were when this journey began.
Do you still carry the same spirit? I hope life has softened your edges where needed and strengthened your resolve where it mattered. Remember the doubts and hopes you held today? The plans that seemed so distant? I hope you pursued them, or found even better paths you couldn’t yet see.
Are you still close to the people who mean the most? Never let a busy schedule drown out what’s truly important—connection, laughter, and love. If you’ve drifted, reach out. It’s never too late.
Most importantly, I hope you’ve learned to be gentle with yourself. You’ve always been your own toughest critic. Celebrate how far you’ve come, not just how far you have left to go.
Don’t forget to find joy in ordinary moments. Don’t forget to dream, even now. And don’t forget the resilience that has always lived inside you.
You’ve come so far, Herbert.
Keep believing. Keep going.
With hope and reflection,
