Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, 1. How does shame manifest in your own life? Self-sabotage, withdrawal, sadness, anger. 2. How do you deal with shame? stages of grief. Mad at myself and then blaming and then thinking it through and trying to find a way to make it better. 3. What surprised you in reflecting on the concepts of shame? I was surprised at how much I self-attack and also withdraw. I withdraw from help and support. I withdraw from friends and family. 4. What are some positive ways to deal with shame with others? to be able to realize that I made a mistake and talk with people who've I hurt or who have hurt me and have a dialogue about their perception and how I may have caused them to feel. I usually hold on to the thoughts and shame for a bit and then almost always have to apologize and talk it out. 5. What do you need to remind your future self about shame? That its something we all deal with and react to in different ways about As an educator, I would like to remind myself that this may be what we see in behaviors with our students. That their inappropriate actions and behaviors may be a result of their feelings of shame as well.
