A letter from the past | Dear Future Me

Time Travelled — 6 months

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, How are you? I am super thrilled to write to you as this is my first ever letter to you. I am currently slowly settling down in my new role. Learning a hell lot of new things every day, sometimes feeling overwhelmed, sometimes more excited to identify ways I can support the organisation. I have done my Lumina Spark Psychometric Analysis last week & I am still buzzing with it fresh. It was rattling, shocking & very very helpful in helping me udnerstand myself and how I interact with other so much better. My key strengths as also identified by the test were Discipline, driven, relaible people focused, structured, goal oriented, outcome focused, getting things done. I agree. But even more interesting than that were the areas for improvement. Main one being managing my leadership when I am under pressure. It seems that I take a step back and cant make quick decisions under pressure. This is going to be the No. 1 area I want to work on now as a leader. There was another bit that I will focus on which is balacing my Commanding style with my empowering style. I got the Best Eliciting award during CELTA and I want to use the same techniques and mindset in becoming a bigger empowerer than commander as a leader. I will also try and give spontaniety a bit of a leeway into my work life as I scored really poor on that especially when I am under pressure. I want to stop continuing to focus too heavily on what needs to be done at the pace I set and start building deeper inroads into my teams' & people's minds. I want to continue to be driven and ambitious though & continue to motivate and inspire other to keep up. I know you are at a much better place right now. You have made so much progress in just 6 months, I am so very proud of you. You have worked hard to reach where you are. My only advice is keep going, stay open, keep learning, keep bettering what you do and keeping gaining expertise at various subjects. Has your mindset shifted or changed too much given that you have spent almost 8 months in this new dynamic role?
