Dear Future Self,
One thing that I really wish everyone knew about human variation is that we are much more alike than people think! Genetically, all humans share 99.9% of our DNA in common, and our traits that we often see ‘race’ as are not biological but shaped by our environment. I wish we all understood this because generations of racism have stemmed from the lack of knowledge that we are actually very similar to one another and that our ‘race’ is a social construct used to divide us. With this knowledge, I hope society may appreciate our similarities and differences as humans. I hope you are continuing to help spread this truth!
Sincerely,
past self
